The aim of this website is to promote interest amongst current and future generations in the subject matter of Oflag IVC, Colditz Castle.

Within these walls man displayed an emence level of positive mental attitude, optimism, inspiration, personal motivation, ‘the will to win’, triumph over adversity, performance under extreme pressure, working against the odds, self belief, resilience and purpose of mind, perseverance, overcoming obstacles, commitment, leadership, effective management, teamwork, competitive tenacity and goal setting. Their actions are an example to us all.

This website is intended as an information resource to encourage further investigation by the viewer. The website is a mechanism by which the website author’s bank of knowledge on the subject matter of Colditz can be accessed.

By using quotations from prisoners who were actually there we are removing our own personal subjective opinions and instead are attempting to make the information as realistic and authentic as possible. We cannot commend highly enough the viewer to go on to read the books quoted and indeed build up their own Colditz book collection.

It is also our intention to promote travel to the Town of Colditz where enthusiasts can visit the Castle and the surrounding area.
